The purpose of GIFT University is to bring about a positive change in the society by producing ethical graduates who can in return serve the society and humanity at large. At the time of its inception in 2002 GIFT University was the first and only university between Lahore and Islamabad. Setting up a university with purpose-built campus was a big challenge in many ways and providing best quality infrastructure and bringing best faculty to the campus from all over Pakistan was a great task to accomplish.

GIFT University believes that this university is for the development of the people in this region. Following its mission, GIFT University has been very successfully providing modern world facilities, internationally experienced faculty, and best infrastructure to ensure the quality of education for the students and young professionals of this region.

GIFT University strongly believes that every student has the right to study and he/she shall not be deprived of education because of financial constraints.

GIFT University with its idea of re-investing for the betterment and welfare of the students has thus helped to gradually and steadily increase GIFT Advantage Program (GAP) funds and are considered to be highest in the region.

The GIFT Advantage Program (GAP) makes sure that right students avail the financial benefits by making the process of selection transparent, unbiased, easy, fast and available to all without any kind of discrimination.

RESULT BASED SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS

A vast array of scholarship plans is available to acknowledge the efforts of students to advance their education and the desire to learn more.

To accommodate students who excel in their field, or brave the challenges of reality and strive to continue their education, GAP offers scholarships and financial assistance in different forms to eligible students. If a student qualifies to receive more than one scholarship and financial assistance, then he/she will be awarded one with the maximum benefit. Unless specified otherwise, the information applies to all programs offered by the University.

1. Result Based Scholarships and Awards

The scholarships designed for talented students are awarded on the basis of educational performance only and also according to the quantum of budgets allocated for the following types of scholarships:

  • Quaid-e-Azam Scholarship

    This is the most prestigious scholarship offered by GIFT University to a student who secures the overall first position in the examination of a Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE).

    It is only applicable if the student seeks admission to GIFT University in the very next admission cycle. The scholarship covers 100% of tuition and admission fee, hostel fee and a stipend of Rs.10,000 per annum for books allowance (would be sanctioned as per actual bills).

  • Fatima Jinnah Scholarship

    This is the 2nd in the prestigious scholarship category and is extended to those talented male and female students who secure overall 2nd or 3rd position in the examination of a Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE). These students would be given up to 100% tuition and admission fee waivers. And would be applicable if the student(s) seeks admission to GIFT University in the very next admission cycle.

  • Merit and Industry Scholarships

    In order to recognize and reward the academic achievements of applicants, merit as well as industry scholarships are offered simultaneously to eligible applicants based on results in Intermediate for admissions in Undergraduate Programs at GIFT University.

2. Scholarships for Kin of GIFT University Students

The kin of GIFT University students are as much a part of GIFT Family as anyone else. To honor this relation, the GIFT offers with the generous concession of:

  • 30% Tuition fee waiver to the kin when he/she joins the GIFT University in undergraduate programs including associate degree or post-associate degree programs (after 14 years education).

    Or

  • 15% if kin join in undergraduate program of BS Textile and Fashion Design.

    Or

  • 25% Tuition fee waiver if kin join in the following mentioned Post Graduate programs.

Note:

This scholarship is applicable as long as the student and kin are concurrently studying in university. This kinship scholarship is continued when both the kins shall concurrently register and pay complete fee of at-least two regular semesters. 3. Scholarships for Kin or Spouse of GIFT University Alumni

Kin and Spouse of GIFT University alumni can also avail the sponsorship in the form of a generous concession of;

  • 30% Tuition fee waiver to the kin/spouse when he/she joins the GIFT University in undergraduate programs including associate degree and Post-Associate/BCom/BA/BSc Degree Programs (after 14 years education).

    Or

  • 15% if join in undergraduate program of BS Textile and Fashion Design.

    Or

  • 25% Tuition fee waiver if kin join in the following mentioned Post Graduate programs.

4. Scholarships for GIFT University Alumni

Alumni of GIFT University can also avail scholarships in the form of generous concession of 25% fee tuition fee waiver who wishes to enhance their education by joining based on limited seats.

5. Scholarships for the Community

  • For Orphans and Disabled Students

    One of the most saddening things for a person is to lose parents or is to confront with the disability. GIFT University shares their pain and strives to support these souls to help them stand on their feet. To this regard, the University offers a 5% to 10% additional scholarship on tuition fee to the approved financial assistance after the need assessment to the needy orphans/disables after if he/she joins GIFT University in Undergraduate programs other than BS textile & Fashion Design. However, for BS Computer Science and Software Engineering student must have 65% marks or equivalent.

    This scholarship will be applicable during normal/regular time duration of the program/discipline. For more information about list of programs, consult terms and conditions given at the end of this policy.

  • For Married Couple

    University offers generous advantage to one of the partners of married couple if both wish to join GIFT University in Undergraduate programs. Please find the following details of this scholarship;

    25% Tuition fee waiver to the kin/spouse when he/she joins the GIFT University in undergraduate programs

    Or

    25% if join in the following mentioned post graduate programs:

6. External Scholarships and Funding Opportunities

There are several external funding options when it comes to financing students at GIFT University. In addition to the scholarships awarded by the University, we also facilitate our students in securing funding opportunities through various external sources such as the government, industry, various clubs, unions, societies, trusts, foundations and other organizations.

The rules and regulations regarding these scholarships are defined by the specific funding organizations themselves and will be followed accordingly.

Note: Eligible Students are liable to apply for such scholarships and funding opportunities. If a student receives funding from other source, said amount of fee waiver and/or scholarship allowances given by GIFT may be adjusted accordingly.

7. Financial Assistance for Needy and Talented Students

GIFT University provides financial assistance to needy and talented students who wish to pursue a degree in GIFT University (however, not applicable for BS Textile & Fashion Design, M Phil Linguistic, M Phil English & M Phil Islamic Studies). The magnitude of financial assistance depends upon assessment of the students need. 

It may range from 10% to 60%. To apply for Financial Assistance, the student must have scored 55% or above marks or equivalent in his/her latest examination and in case of BS Computer Science and Software Engineering Programs student must have scored 65% or above marks in his/her latest examination. Furthermore, he/she must also be able to demonstrate through documentary evidence that he/she needs financial assistance. For application and continuation of this assistance, please observe the table in terms and conditions.

8. Learn While You Earn (LWYE) Scheme:

GIFT University also provides support to needy and talented students by providing them opportunity of “Learn While You Earn (LWYE)”. University offers specific tasks or jobs to the selected students who are then compensated monetarily by adjusting their fee. 

There may be flexible 20 hours per week working model. For students seeking the scheme in the first semester, they will not be given tasks that will impact their studies. This is to ensure that they get a grip on GIFT environment and its workings. They will be properly deployed in the second semester with a proper workload. Continuation of the scheme beyond the second semester will be the responsibility of the student that he/she has to contact the Advantage Office for deployment.

For Learn While You Earn (LWYE), the students are also advised to observe the proper jobs opening announcements followed by selection process of the University. This scheme will further facilitate students on top of any scholarship or tuition fee waiver. For more information about list of programs, consult terms and conditions given at the end of this policy.

To apply for Learn While You Earn (LWYE) scheme, the student must secure admission. However, in case of BS Computer Science and Software Engineering Programs student must have scored 50% or above marks in his/her latest examination. This scheme is not applicable for BS Textile & Fashion Design, M Phil Linguistic, M Phil English & M Phil Islamic Studies Programs. Furthermore, he/she must also be able to demonstrate through documentary evidence that he/she needs financial assistance. For application and continuation of this assistance, please observe the table in terms and conditions.

9. Interest-Free Education Loans

GIFT University also provides interest-free loans to existing needy students who are studying in GIFT University. The requirement for these loans is that the student must have a minimum required degree CGPA and must be able to demonstrate through documentary evidence that he/she needs a loan. The magnitude of the loan depends upon assessment of the student’s need. 

The loan is granted subject to several conditions including the applicant must provide a post-dated signed cheque by an acceptable guarantor.

Note: This scheme is not applicable for M Phil Linguistic, M Phil English & M Phil Islamic Studies Programs

Terms and Conditions

For Continuation of Merit and Industrial Scholarship

In case of Merit and Industrial scholarship, if the CGPA falls below 2.8, the scholarship would be withdrawn or reduced according to the reduction formula table given below.

For Continuation of Financial Assistance

  • Financial Assistance given will be continued if the following mentioned all conditions are satisfied otherwise it will be withdrawn;
    • a. Only during normal/regular time duration of the program/discipline and
    • b. If the CGPA of a student is equal to or greater than his/her degree’s minimum passing requirement. For example, in case of Undergraduate program the minimum CGPA requirement is 2.0; in case of MPhil/MBA programs the minimum CGPA requirement is 2.5 and its 3.0 in case of PhD programs.
  • For all scholarships, fee waivers, discounts, the seats are limited and applications will be served based on first come first serve basis.
  • All scholarships except those for which explicitly the revision terms have been defined separately (for example the revision criteria for merit scholarships, financial assistance, kinship scholarship etc have been defined separately) will be continued only during normal degree duration.
  • Kinship scholarship is applicable as long as the student and kin are concurrently studying in university. This kinship scholarship is continued when both the kins shall concurrently register and pay complete fee of at-least two regular semesters. However, scholarship will be applicable during normal/regular time duration of the program/discipline.
  • Students must apply for tuition fee waiver, financial assistance or loan on the prescribed form (available in student facilitation center) together with supporting documents to Students Financial Advisor (SFA) at GIFT University at least two weeks before the commencement of Semester provided that he/she obtained at-least 2.75 CGPA in case of tuition fee waiver and Financial Assistance and minimum required degree CGPA in case of loan. No application will be accepted after this deadline.
  • A student may apply for multiple assistantships. However, he/she is eligible to receive only one form of scholarship/FA/tuition fee waiver that provides the maximum benefit to him/her.
  • Scholarship and Fee Waivers seats are limited. Applications will be served on first come first serve basis.
  • All scholarships, tuition fee waivers and financial assistance, may be reduced or withdrawn if student is on any kind of warning.
  • Any kind of scholarship, tuition fee waiver and Financial Assistance will also be waived off on the expiry of degree duration.
  • Any scholarship, tuition fee waiver and financial assistance will not be applicable on its thesis supervision, evaluation and other related fee.
  • The student as well as his/her guardian must sign a statement acknowledging the above conditions.
  • The University has the right to amend, change, edit or delete any part or full of its rules and regulations.
