Program Description |
The Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) Program at GIFT is intense and demanding, which requires two years of full-time study. The programme is designed to develop individuals with outstanding entrepreneurial and managerial skills, expertise in decision-making, and a capacity for sustained hard work. The teaching technique for the first year is a mix of interactive class lectures, short cases, term papers and projects. In the second year of MBA our focus on case based teaching methodology increases sharply. Case based teaching is a decision oriented methodology that provides our students an exclusive exposure to the real life business and management challenges. Our M.B.A. programme exposes students to modern theories and techniques, taking into account the needs and requirements of the business community in Pakistan. |

Areas of Specialization |
GIFT M.B.A. provides the students an opportunity to earn specialization in a specific area of business. |
Key Features |
Closeness to practice: Case studies replicate actual business situations and are taught so that students may work together to make difficult decisions under typical management conditions, including a lack of complete information, complex tradeoff situations, and time pressure. |
Research in M.B.A. is firmly grounded in knowledge of business processes-in entrepreneurial companies and established firms as well as non-profit organizations-and is unconstrained by the boundaries of academic disciplines. |
Many of our faculty members also have hand-on business experience as consultants, entrepreneurs, investors, advisors and executives. |
The main thrust of the M.B.A. programme is to produce entrepreneurial managers having innovative and sharp mind. |

The Case Method of Teaching |
The goal of GIFT Business School is to prepare students for the challenges of leadership. We believe that the case method is by far the most powerful way to learn the skills required to manage, and to lead. |
The case method forces students to grapple with exactly the kinds of decisions and dilemmas managers confront every day. In doing so, it redefines the traditional educational dynamic in which the professor dispenses knowledge and students passively receive it. The case method creates a classroom in which students succeed not by simply absorbing facts and theories, but also by exercising the skills of leadership and teamwork in the face of real problems. Under the skillful guidance of a faculty member, they work together to analyze and synthesize conflicting data and points of view, to define and prioritize goals, to persuade and inspire others who think differently, to make tough decisions with uncertain information, and to seize opportunity in the face of doubt. |
Pioneered by Harvard Business School faculty in the 1920s, the case method began as a way of imparting slices of business reality into the classroom in order to infuse life and instill greater meaning into the lessons of management education. |
M.B.A. Project |
At the beginning of the second year, students must identify an M.B.A. Project. The project, which is weighted as the equivalent of two M.B.A. courses, is effectively a consulting assignment for a business firm. In this project, student teams try to resolve a business problem by conducting a thorough analysis of the company's situation and recommending a strategic direction as well as specific action steps to the company management and the faculty advisor. |

Internship |
Practical exposure is an integral part of any successful M.B.A. program. Internship in summers after the first year is mandatory for the GIFT M.B.A. students. The internship not only gives a very practical opportunity to the candidate to test his/her aptitude in his/her area of interest before they choose their area of concentration in the second year but also gives insights in to the practical world. The CDO office helps in coordinating and arranging the internships. |
